What is Vietnam’s minimum wage in 2026?
Vietnam’s 2026 minimum wage ranges from ₫3,700,000 a month in Region IV to ₫5,310,000 a month in Region I, under Decree 293/2025/ND-CP, in force from 1 January 2026 — an increase of about 7.2% on 2025. Region I covers the urban areas of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Hourly minimums run from ₫17,800 to ₫25,500. The region depends on where the employer operates, not where the employee lives, and every labour contract must pay at least the minimum for its region.

How it applies
Where the minimum wage matters.
- Region follows the employer: the rate depends on where the employer, branch or workplace operates. For an EOR hire, it follows the location of the employing company’s operation.
- Probation: probation pay must be at least 85% of the job’s full salary, and that salary may not be below the regional minimum.
- Overtime and night work: premiums of 150%, 200% and 300%, and the 30% night premium, are calculated on the normal wage, which itself cannot fall below the minimum.
In practice, office and specialist salaries sit far above these floors. The minimum wage matters most for entry-level and production roles, and for budgeting employer contributions.
